Dreams or Nightmares

Writer's picture: Ma'atma UhuruMa'atma Uhuru

I had a dream that we were fighting for our freedom.

We slaughtered and somewhere we still lost. All the while we beat the opponents in front of us, we had no knowledge of the control and superiority of the spectators who watched from above. After the battle subsided, a cage rose. Bodies, covered in dirt, barely moving, came just inches under our toes. Then they stripped us of our clothes. Forced us to lay down with brethren of our blood, but no longer connected through minds that they had lost. When we protested, they laughed. Said that we would get used to it soon, if we survived. We tried to break free, but with hopelessness at our fingertips, all we could do was comply.
